Edu-Blogging facilitates the learning capabilities of the students as well as the online readers.  As for students, they enhance their reading capabilities to read a lot in order to create and publish their own and personalize article in a wider audience. Second, It also develop their mastery skills as they write their articles and sustain what they learn.  Third is, they also share what are they thoughts, ideas and learnings but also how they see their selves as an author. Fourth one is, the develop their social interactions  to his/her readers. As for the online readers, It seems like they find a new Educators or room where they can nurture their knowledge as they read the articles posted .

Creating the Blog……

I’ve experience so many difficulties in creating my first ever blog account. I have to fill-in all the needed Information over and over again in order to complete the signing process. Even the Signing process is too difficult for me to accomplish. Second is, I don’t know how to put templates, to the point that I need a special help from my good IT Student friends (JHA and IGGY). They are the ones who put my templates and arrange the fonts and the colors. Whooa, big thanks to both of them. Is it obvious that I’m not really a “Techy person?” well, admit it or not… that’s me. Plus, I’m not a good writer at all. But atleast, I’ve tried! J

On the first article that I’ve done for Edu-Blogging entitled “Introduction to Endocrinology”. To avoid plagiarism, I need to read several references including books and some information in the internet in order to create the whole article because the major RULEof our professor when she instructing us on how to create our own blog is to avoid PLAGIARISM or else my blog page will be BLOCKED. If you copy for somebody’s article, you can’t call it a personal article because you copied and you didn’t work hard for it. So to avoid that, you really need to read a lot and summarize what you’ve READ..

Creating my first ever article is more fun that the 2nd one. I don’t know why but maybe because I was excited to publish my first article. It was first time then when I received a short congratulatory message or my friends telling me “oh, I read you post.” Or some are telling me good job! Even a small messages that I received from them makes me overwhelm and flattered because they appreciate what I’ve done. It makes me more inspired to do better for my incoming articles.

In my second blog, a received a good feedback from friends and most especially to our professor. I was so happy then to received a good feedback to the article whom I worked hard for it.

What I’ve Learn in Edu-Blogging

This Activity made me realize that everyone can write his/her best article even we’re not a good writer at all. Feel free to write what’s on your mind and use our creative mind, we can create a good one. It also helps me to read ALOT  of BOOKS in order to create an article for a good blog because basically, you can’t create an article without reading. Most especially, I learn how to write an article. Make it creative and unique as much as possible J

MT 4 goes TOXIC! Again?? J

Sneak Peak!

Poison is a big deal in one of the successful tragic novel of William Shakespeare, The Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo dies when he drinks a poison he purchased illegally from the Apothecary (in Act 5, Scene 3).

Poison is also Juliet's first choice of "weapon" for suicide.

When she figures out what Romeo has done, she tries to lick the poison from his lips but there's not enough left to kill her (5.3.2).

All of this is foreshadowed when Juliet drinks a poison Friar Laurence gave to her that cause a deep sleep that pretends death.
But Juliet did not die from her initial dose but stabbed herself to death towards the end of the story. J

Did you all know that POISONING is the  4th most common cause of Suicide. 2nd is the Drug/Alcohol Overdose. Now, lets get to know more as we explore the World of Toxicology.

Obviously, Toxicology is defined as a branch of science that deals with POISONS, and a poison can be defined as any substance that causes a harmful effect when administered. Broader definitions of toxicology, such as “the study of the detection, occurrence, properties, effects and regulation of toxic substances.

Xenobiotic is the general term that is used for a foreign substance taken into the body.  It is derived from the Greek term xeno which means "foreigner."  Xenobiotics may produce beneficial effects (such as a pharmaceuticals) or they may be toxic (such as lead).

MORE DEFINITIONS:

Ø Poisoning- may be accidental, suicidal or criminal
Ø  Toxin- naturally derived, naturally exposed toxic chemicals (e.g. Snake Venom).
Ø  Toxicant- manmade toxic chemicals or of natural origin but manipulated, concentrated or dispersed by humans (e.g. Household chemicals).
Ø  Antidotes- procedure/medicine given to counteract the influence of poison or an attack of disease.

          Branches of Toxicology:

ØClinical Toxicology a study of interrelationships between
toxin exposure and states. This area emphasizes not only diagnostic
    testing but also therapeutic interventions.

Ø  Descriptive Toxicology– utilizes the method of risk
assessment or it makes use of the results of animal experimentation
to predict what level of exposure could be hazardous to a humans.

Ø  Forensic Toxicology– primarily concerned with the
medico-legal cases of toxin exposure. A major focus of this area
is establishing and validating the analytic performance of the
methods used to generate evidence in legal situations, including
    cause of death.

      ØMechanistic Toxicologystudies the cellular and

           Other specialized fieldS

Ø  Regulatory Toxicology- Focuses on risk assessment
and exposure guideline development from gathered information
obtained from toxicity testing.

Ø  Environmental Toxicology- Focuses on the exposure
of the chemical varieties of toxicants found in the general living

Ø  Ecotoxicology- Specialized area of environmental
toxicology focusing mainly on the impacts of toxic agents in the
population and its dynamics within an ecosystem and its fate.

TYPES OF TOXIC EFFECT

Ø  Mutagenicity- a detection of possible ability to induce genetic alteration (mutation)

Ø  Carcinogenicity- a detection of possible ability to induce abnormal clonal uncontrolled proliferation of genetically altered cells.

Ø  Teratogenicity- a detection of possible deleterious effects on the developing fetus.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE through:

Ø  Ingestion (Gastro intestinal tract)
Ø  Inhalation (lungs)
Ø  Transdermal absorption (skin)
Ø  Rectal (Suppository)
Ø  Injection (bite, puncture, or cut)

Toxicokinetics is essentially the study of "how a substance gets into the body and what happens to it in the body".  Four processes are involved in toxicokinetics.

Absorption
The substance enters the body
Distribution
The substance moves from the site of entry to other areas of the body.
Biotransformation
The body changes (transforms) the substance into new chemicals.
Excretion
The substance or its metabolites leave the body.
Thank you in taking time reading my 2nd blog and for visiting as well. I hope you like it. If you do..,,, don’t hesitate to hit the comment box!! Have a nice day everyone! J
